Influences for Remy Brecht (guitar)

Posted in News with tags , , on 3.07.2012 by admin

The second installment in our Top 11 Influences series is Remy Brecht with his list of inspirational guitarists. For The Restless Shades, Remy draws on some of his favorite post-punk and early goth bands in looking for that just-right tone, which involves equal doses of distortion and reverb beneath a cascading waterfall of chorus effects derived from pedals, rackmount modules, and 12-string guitars.

Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets)
John Valentine Carruthers (Siouxsie and the Banshees)
William Faith (Faith and the Muse)
Andy Gill (Gang of Four)
Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins)
Wayne Hussey (Sisters of Mercy, The Mission UK)
Porl King (Rosetta Stone, Miserylab)
Gary Marx (Sisters of Mercy)
John McGeoch (Siouxsie and the Banshees)
Paul Reynolds (Flock of Seagulls)
Geordie Walker (Killing Joke)

Next time, we will be sharing Rob’s list of inspirational drummers! Watch this space.

Influences for Mr. Sandman (vocals)

Posted in News with tags , , on 27.06.2012 by admin

While we’re putting together our new live show, we decided it would be fun (and possibly interesting) to compile Top 11 lists of each band member’s influences for their particular area/instrument when it comes to performing in The Restless Shades. The first installment is Mr. Sandman’s list of vocalists from which he draws inspiration when working on TRS material. In no particular order:

Marc Almond (Soft Cell)
Adam Ant
Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode)
Debbie Harry (Blondie)
Ian McCulloch (Echo and the Bunnymen)
Phil Oakey (The Human League)
Andy Partridge (XTC)
Elvis Presley
Prince
Nina Simone
Bernard Sumner (New Order)

Stay tuned for future installments in this series!
